To solve the issue of our fundamental research lack of "0 to 1" original achievement, Plan of Enhancing "0 to 1" Fundamental Research Work is jointly established by Ministry of Science and Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences and National Natural Science Foundation of China. Fundamental research is the treasure of the country. A new round of technical revolution, industrial transformation and international competition rely on level and depth of fundamental research. Currently, the aluminum oxide market has slump price, enterprises have high production costs, the market has cut-throat competition and the production technology needs to be improved. Is it necessary for production technology of aluminum oxide enterprise to conduct original upgrading and transformation from "0 to 1"? How to develop the aluminum oxide industry under the current circumstance?
I. Improving condition, boosting quality and increasing quantity
Aluminum oxide industry is a significant part of the aluminum industry and enjoys rapid development in China in recent years. Aluminum oxide output is 72.474 million ton in 2019, which basically meets production demand of domestic electrolytic aluminum. II. Controlling cost, optimizing layout
Raw material accounts for over 60%, energy consumption between 20 and 25%, financial cost about 10% and manpower cost less than 1% out of production cost of aluminum oxide. For aluminum oxide enterprises, optimizing raw material supply can control production cost effectively. Bauxite is the main raw material of aluminum oxide production and domestic bauxite is mainly dominated by diaspore. Currently, alumina-silica ratio of Henan and Shanxi bauxite is about 5.0 (the relatively low ratio is close to 3.0) and dissolving temperature is between 260 and 270℃. And its alkali and energy consumptions are relatively high. Restricted by resource shortage and other causes, aluminum oxide enterprises in Henan and Shanxi regions have high production cost generally and enterprises can conduct procurement or layout in southwestern regions. Currently, China encourages aluminum oxide enterprises to shift overseas, combining with actual development. Guinea bauxite has relatively high mass ratio, relatively low reacting silicon, relatively less alkali and energy consumption, and relatively low production cost.
III. Improving technology, persisting in green and sustainability
The aluminum oxide industry will face a new round of restructuring after the COVID-19 outbreak and focus more on research and development driving and upgrading the industrial development under incentive of national policies. Aluminum oxide enterprises shall take the initiative and inject new driving force for the industry scientifically.
